JETS WOMEN DROP TO 1-1
The Toronto Golden Jets senior women dropped their second game of the season 14-7 to CAMO (Montreal) in NCL action at the Markham Pan Am pool.
The Jets quickly fell behind 2-0 after the opening swim off. Josie Andrist then scored to pull the Jets to within one. However, the defence fell apart in the last half of the first quarter, giving up three goals as CAMO surged to a 5-1 advantage.
In the second period, the teams traded goals to start out with rookie Georgia Springate tallying for the Jets. Then, Sarah August countered and scored leading the Jets to a 2-1 quarter win and narrowing the deficit to 6-3 at the half.
The Jets gave up the first two goals to open the third quarter. It was a 2-2 draw from that point until the end of the period and the CAMO lead increased to 10-5.
Andrist and Aoife Murray, both with their second of the game, scored around a pair of goals by CAMO. CAMO then added two more tallies in the final minute of the game.
Andrist and Murray, each with two goals, paced the Golden Jets attack. August, Springate and Suzan Chappuie tallied once apiece.
Veteran Hana Truchla notched six saves and two steals in the first half. Rookie Grace Bobyk almost matched that in her half of work with five saves and one steal.
