The Toronto Golden Jets senior women's team moved into second place in the Eastern Conference of the Senior NCL with its third win of the season - a 13-7 decision over Ottawa Titans Black at the Markham Pan Am Pool.

The Titans opened the scoring on an outside shot. It was the last time Ottawa would lead in the game. Sarah August and Josie Andrist scored back-to-back counterattack goals to give the Jets a 2-1 lead midway through the quarter. After the Titans tied things up, Daryn Schell twice found the back of the net before the quarter finished - once on the power play and once in transition - to pace the Jets to a 4-2 lead.

Again Titans Black opened the scoring in the quarter to close to within one at 3-4. However, the Jets responded with three straight markers from rookie Kriya Vohra, Suzan Chappuie and Christine Snidal to go out in front 7-3. The teams then traded goals before the half ended with Andrist getting her second of the game.

In the third, Chappuie notched a natural hat trick (including a penalty shot conversion) to open the quarter and extend Toronto's lead to 11-4. Ex Golden Jets center forward Julia Decaire got one back for the Titans before Schell tallied her third goal of the game putting Toronto ahead 12-5 entering the final quarter.

It was an uneventful fourth period with Chappuie getting the lone Toronto goal. Rookie Shaya Oghyani picked up two saves in the second half. Rookie starter Grace Bobyk made eight saves in the opening half.

Chappuie led all scorers with five goals. Schell had a hat trick with Andrist tallying a pair. August, Snidal and Vohra each notched one goal.

The Jets' 3-1 record puts the team in second place, one game behind league-leading CAMO (Montreal).

The second round of games will take place in Kingston on the weekend of January 24-26.
