The newly formed Toronto Golden Jets Navy women’s team suffered a pair of losses in NCL action at the Markham Pan Am pool on Saturday.
The day began with a tilt against Montreal Tiburon. The thin Jets roster sporting only three substitutes fought gamely for a half and only trailed 4-2.
Fatigue then set in and resulted in a disastrous 2-7 third quarter before Toronto found some energy to tie the fourth quarter 2-2 before falling 13-6.
Kriya Vohra netted a hattrick for Toronto while Liana Sheridan, Lillian Wheatley and Daryn Schell added singles.
The loss left the Jets in 4th place in Pool A which set up a quarter final match against Pool B winners Montreal Touski.
Down another substitute, the Jets Navy team was simply no match for the experienced Touski side which ran away with a 17-1 victory.
Vohra scored on the Jets first attack of the game to tie things up briefly before the Jets offence went silent the rest of the way.
The Jets will face Ottawa Titans Red in the game for 7th place on Sunday morning.
