About Jets

The Toronto Golden Jets was established in 1980 by two-time Olympian George Gross, Jr. The club has won seven National men’s championships and six silver medals to go along with numerous Provincial titles. The team has hosted and played against the National Champions of Hungary, Greece, Italy and Germany. Senior women were added in 1982 and won a silver medal at the National Championships along with multiple Provincial Championships. The Golden Jets briefly ran a boys age group program in the 1980s, a program that won the Provincial championships three years in a row and helped the club win the overall club points championships all three years. The age group program was revived in the early 2000s and has already yielded three National U19 Boys Final Four finishes and several players selected to the Junior National  Team training camps. Recently the club has begun a push to establish a broad-based girls age group program as well as a program for 6-11 year olds (Academy and Pre-Academy).The Golden Jets club is committed to the vision of its founder. That vision includes making water polo enjoyable as a life-long sport, developing all players regardless of ability, teaching life lessons about sacrifice, hard work, dedication and cooperative behaviour in a group dynamic. The goal for the age group program is to place all the players into a university water polo program where they can make a meaningful contribution and continue to enjoy the sport.  For the past two World Student Games, the Golden Jets have placed several UofT men and women on Canada’s entries.

The club is closely aligned with the University of Toronto where it trains. Most of the senior players attend UofT as well and many of the graduating high schoolers move on to attend UofT, a top 20 world-ranked academic institution.

The Golden Jets presents that rare opportunity for players of all experiences to come together in a healthy, fun teaching environment. Joining is easy!
