The Toronto Golden Jets senior men’s Navy team dropped two games on Day 1 of the second NCL league weekend at Markham’s Pan Am Pool on Friday.
Due to work and school commitments, the team only had one substitute for its first game against Hamilton 1. The Jets put up a decent first quarter trailing 2-0. But the wheels quickly fell off for the tired players as Toronto trailed 8-0 at the half en route to a 18-2 drubbing.
Colin Thomas notched both goals for the Jets.
Later in the day, with some reinforcements arriving, the Jets played a great three quarters. Unfortunately, a 0-6 third quarter did the team in. Toronto opened with a 4-3 first quarter and followed that up with a 2-1 second quarter to lead 6-4 at the half. Then came the disastrous third followed by a 4-2 fourth which got the Jets close before falling 12-10 to Saskatchewan.
Andrew Reed paced the Jets attack with four goals. Daniel Gonzalez notched a hattrick. Vlad Tasevski popped in a pair with Thomas netting the other marker.
The Jets Navy will face Jets Gold and Hamilton 2 on Saturday in consolation round play.
